Belmont Abbey students have access to an amazing campus weight room to get into, or stay in, better shape. Now known as the Sports Performance Center at Belmont Abbey College, the facility underwent a complete overhaul in December, 2019 with the addition of customized weight lifting equipment, new flooring, and a 1,350 sq. ft. artificial turf functional training area that will serve 41 men's and women's athletic programs and the campus community at-large.
The upgrade features twelve weightlifting stations with customized racks, benches, bars, and plates, branded dumbbells, a 30-yard turf sprinting and plyometric area, and many more features to enhance the performance and experience of Belmont Abbey College students.
"This project was made possible by the generous donation from the Wheelers," said Stephen Miss, Director of Athletics. "A major upgrade, renovating our Sports Performance facility better positions us to deliver upon our promise to our students: to form and develop the whole person – Body, Mind, and Soul."
The facility is open to the entire Belmont Abbey community, including all students, faculty/staff and monastery.
