Cycling Facilities

Belmont Abbey College is a member of the USA Cycling Collegiate program and is one of only twenty five collegiate varsity programs in the country.  The cycling team began competition in 2016 and has grown rapidly during its short existence at The Abbey.

The student athletes compete in a combination of five separate events; track, cyclocross, mountain bike, road and BMX. Members of the team practice and compete at a number of different sites throughout campus and beyond.  Along with the on campus indoor training facility, roads and paths, the team also takes advantage of partnerships with Giordana Velodrome, and the US National Whitewater Center.

The Giordana Velodrome is located in Rock Hill, South Carolina and serves home to track cyclers.  The 250 m concrete track  was built in 2012 (cityofrockhill.com).

The Whitewater Center is just 7 miles from the Belmont Abbey Campus.  The outdoor activity center has over 50 miles of trail systems that Abbey cyclers are able to take advantage of for training.  In addition to the trails, the White Water Center offers numerous experiences for students to take advantage of in their free time including whitewater rafting, ziplines, kayaking, ropes course and many other activities.
