The Belmont Abbey women's volleyball team hit .275 and held Mount Olive to a .011 attack as the Crusaders posted an easy 3-0 sweep over the Trojans before a crowd of 800 in the Wheeler Center. Belmont Abbey improves to 10-7 overall and 4-2 in Conference Carolinas as it won by scores of 25-22, 25-11 and 25-12. Mount Olive falls to 2-13 overall and 1-4 in league play.
Belmont Abbey finished with 39 kills, coming from six different players as seniors Hannah Schellenberg and Caitlin Hankins both finished with ten each. Hankins recorded a .429 attack, as she posted ten kills on 21 attacks with no errors. Coreen Norwood added eight with Aimee Cloninger and Emily Rose totaling five each. Gabby Martinez logged one to go with 30 assists and a pair of service aces.
The Crusaders totaled seven service aces, led by Keely Denkman's career-high three. Cloninger added a pair.
The offense finished with a .275 attack as the Crusaders totaled 39 kills with 11 errors on 102 total attacks. Mount Olive hit .011 as it recorded 21 kills and 20 errors on 92 attacks.
Belmont Abbey's defense finished with 49 digs as two players reached double figures, led by Sarah Kenney's 11. Cloninger added ten and Schellenberg just missed a double double as she finished with nine digs.
The Crusaders will now take a week off, as they return to the court next Saturday at 2:00 when hosting Pfeiffer.
