Women's Volleyball Moves To 2-0 In Conference Play With 3-1 Win At Emmanuel

The Belmont Abbey women's volleyball team moved to 2-0 in Conference Carolinas play with a 3-1 road victory at Emmanuel this evening. Scores were 25-12, 24-26, 25-14 and 25-21. Belmont Abbey improves to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the league, while the Lions drop to 5-5 overall and 0-4 in Conference Carolinas.

Belmont Abbey posted a solid .244 attack as senior Hannah Schellenberg hit .333, recording 20 kills on 51 attacks with three just three errors. Coreen Norwood added seven kills with Caitlin Hankins and Emily Rose adding six each. Gabby Martinez handed out 39 assists and recorded a pair of service aces.

Schellenberg, Sarah Kenney and Aimee Cloninger all had two service aces as the Crusaders totaled nine on the night. The Crusaders offense finished with 46 kills on 123 attacks with 16 errors.

The defense recorded 76 digs as Kenney's 25 led all players. Cloninger added four as she reached double figures in that category for the fourth time this season. Schellenberg totaled 11 and Martinez finished with eight as the Crusaders totaled 71 on the evening to just 56 for the Lions.

Caitlin Hankins and Emily Rose both recorded two block assists.

Belmont Abbey is back in action twice tomorrow, taking on Montevallo at 2:30 followed by a matchup against GRU Augusta at 5:00. Both matches will take place at GRU Augusta.
