Women's Volleyball Falls At Lees-McRae, 3-1

The Belmont Abbey women's volleyball team lost 3-1 at Lees-McRae this evening in a Conference Carolinas matchup. Set scores were 21-25, 22-25, 25-23 and 16-25. Lees-McRae improves to 7-5 overall and 3-1 in Conference Carolinas, while the Abbey slips to 2-11 overall and 1-3 in league play.

After going on the road for 11 of its first 13 matches, the Crusaders will now play the next eight straight at home, starting with Friday night's matchup against Barton at 7:00 p.m.

The Crusaders hit .106 tonight as Hannah Schellenberg led the way with 12 kills. Kennedy Haupt added ten and Coreen Norwood added eight and two service aces. Deidre Rodriguez established a career-high with 14 assists. Gabby Martinez finished with 16.

Defensively, Schellenberg led all players with 20 digs for her tenth double double of the year. Freshman libero Julie Newell registered 17 digs.
