Belmont Abbey sophomore Hannah Schellenberg tied for the match high with nine digs and the Crusaders posted ten service as as the women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to 15 with a 3-0 sweep of North Greenville this afternoon. Set scores were 25-11, 25-20 and 25-20. Belmont Abbey improves to 21-3 overall and 14-1 in Conference Carolinas, while North Greenville drops to 7-24 overall and 5-11 in league play.
The Crusaders controlled most of the match as they only trailed once, at 5-4 in the first set. Belmont Abbey hit .233 for the match as Schellenberg knocked down nine kills, which was tied for the match-high. Lydia Schellenberg added eight and Catlin Hankins posted seven. Gabby Martinez handed out 14 assists and had three service aces, while Abby Stine totaled 12 assists and two service aces. Schellenberg, Stine and Ana Maria Pagan all had two service aces, while Dani Fortunato added another. The ten aces are third-highest total for the Abbey this season.
