Women's Volleyball Opens Abbey Road Invitational With 3-0 Sweep Of Claflin

Belmont Abbey sophomore outside hitter Hannah Schellenberg tied for the match high with nine kills and older sister Lydia Schellenberg added seven as the Crusaders women's volleyball team opened the Abbey Road Invitational with a 3-0 sweep of the visiting Claflin Panthers this morning at the Wheeler Center. Set scores were 25-15, 25-16 and 25-17. Belmont Abbey is now 3-2 on the season, while Claflin drops to 1-5.

Hannah Schellenberg knocked down nine kills on 26 attacks to go along with six digs. Lydia Schellenberg added seven kills on 28 attacks with six digs. Caitlin Hankins hit .357 as she totaled six kills on 14 attacks with just one error. She also had a block solo and a block assist.

Setters Gabby Martinez and Abby Stine handed out 17 and 12 assists, respectively, and Martinez recorded four service aces. Lydia Schellenberg had the other.

Defensively, the Abbey registered 35 total digs as Ana Maria Pagan led the Crusaders with seven. Martinez totaled five.
