The Belmont Abbey women's volleyball team wrapped up the first day of the Abbey Road Invitational with its second-straight win of the day, a 3-0 defeat of Walsh University. Set scores were 25-20, 27-25 and 25-21. Belmont Abbey improves to 4-2, while Walsh drops to 2-3.
Hannah Schellenberg led the Abbey with a .346 attack, amassing 11 kills on 26 total attacks with two errors. She also had nine digs. Caitlin Hankins hit a blistering .818, ripping down nine kills on 11 attacks with no errors. She also had three block assists. Gabby Martinez and Abbey Stine handed out 18 and 16 assists, respectively. Lydia Schellenberg, Ana Maria Pagan and Claire Lang all had two service aces.
Defensively, the Crusaders logged 41 digs as Pagan's 12 was the team-high. Lydia Schellenberg added ten. Lang, Hankins and Tori Jensen all had three block assists.
Belmont Abbey won the first set easily and fought hard to win set two 27-25. The Crusaders fought off two set points and claimed the two sets to none lead.
