Crusaders Capture Dramatic Road Win at Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey wrestling team earned a well fought match Tuesday night at Greensboro College as it came down to the final bout. The Crusaders improve to 9-13 on the season.

Michael Bedard recorded an 18-0 technical fall in the 125 weight class to earn his 11 win of the seasonand merit the Crusaders five team points. Troy Gregor captured an 11-0 major decision in the 141 matchup to push the lead to 9-6. Greg Hilliard, ranked 10th in the nation at 157 recorded his 14th pin of the season for his 20th victory. Jake Glunt, ranked 12th in the country, followed up with a 10-2 major decision giving the Crusaders a 19-9 lead.

After dropping the next three bouts by two decisions and a technical fall the Crusaders trailed 20-19 entering the 285 bout.

Chaas Delgado captured the victory for the Crusaders with his sixth pin of the season as he managed the fall in 2:11. Delgado's victory was his 16th of the season.

The Crusaders will travel to Franklin Springs, Ga. for their final scheduled match of the season against Emmanuel. That match will begin at 1:00 p.m.
