Nationally-Ranked Wrestlers Lead Crusaders against No. 16 Newberry

BELMONT, N.C. – Three nationally-ranked wrestlers on the Belmont Abbey wrestling team contributed to the team effort but the Crusaders fell short 27-12 to No. 16 Newberry. The Crusaders' record moves to 8-12 on the season. Newberry, who is ranked 16th in the country, improves 11-8.

Greg Hilliard, who is ranked 10th in the nation in the 157 weight class was able to pin Joey Rocca in 52 seconds to record his 18th win of the season and his 12th pin of his young career.

Ranked 12th in the country in the 165 weight class, Jake Glunt managed a 5-0 decision over Nick Young. The decision was his 15th victory of the year.

Chaas Delgado wrapped up the match with a very competitive bout in the 285 weight class. Delgado was able to beat out Nick Weldon in the fourth overtime period, with an escape and take down, capturing the 5-2 decision. Delgado now has 14 wins on the season.

The Crusaders will host Davidson Saturday at 5 p.m. The match will be the team's Raise the Red event and will wrap up the home schedule.
