MONROE, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey women's golf team finished ninth at the Wingate Challenge with a team score of 653. The Crusaders completed their second round shooting a 328, slightly higher than their first round 325. Finishing 77 strokes over par The Abbey was 38 strokes behind the winner Lenoir-Rhyne and four strokes behind the eighth-place team Coker.
Haley Helton led the Crusaders with a 159 claiming a share of 22nd place. Kaitlyn Gribbon carded a 160 after two rounds to take 25th place. Jenna Nagy's 165 finished her tied for 32nd and Taylor Cozart's 169 earned her tied for 40th. Jamie Treece shot a total 179 finishing tied for 52nd.
Helton finished 10 strokes behind the eventual winner Ainee O'Connor.
The Crusaders will travel to Travelers Rest, S.C. to participate in the Cherokee Valley Invite March 26-27.
