Gribbon Grabs First-Round Lead at Conference Carolinas Championship

SNOW HILL, N.C. -- Kaitlyn Gribbon birdied two of her final five holes and made 10 straight pars earlier in the round, to hold the first-round lead after the first day of the 2017 Conference Carolinas Women's Golf Championship. The junior fired a one-under 71 to hold a one-stroke lead over Nicola Robertson of King.

As a team, Belmont Abbey is fourth at 310, just six strokes behind co-leaders King and Mount Olive.

Haley Helton is tied for seventh with a 76, while Anne Parlmer is in a group of golfers tied for 24th at 80. Taylor Cozart recorded and 83 to tie for 31st, while Autumn Senter rounded out the scoring with an 86 (tied for 42nd).

The second round tees off Monday morning at Cutter Creek Golf Club.
