HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Under improved weather conditions on Tuesday, the Belmont Abbey women's golf team chopped 32 strokes off its opening round, but could not improved on its sixth-place position in the final standings of the Coker Women's Invitational. The Crusaders posted a score of 674 (353-321) over the 36-hole tournament.
Haley Helton finished seventh overall, adding an 81 to her Monday 82 for a score of 163. Kaitlyn Gribbon moved up to 17th with a 77 in the second round after an 87 in the first (164). Taylor Cozart placed in a tie for 24th at 172 (90-82), while Elizabeth Hordes tied for 28th at 175 (92-83). Anne Parlmer rounded out the scoring at 180 (97-83/t32nd).
Host Coker took the team title with a 648 total, while first-round leader Paula Oveido of Shorter took medalist honors at 153.
The Crusaders return to action March 27-28 at the Cherokee Valley Invitational in Travelers Rest, S.C.
