Women's Golf 12th After Day One of Converse Spring Invitational

SPARTANBURG, SC—The Belmont Abbey Women's Golf team posted an opening round 350, and is in 12th place after the first round of the 2016 Converse Spring Invitational by Founders FCU, which being contested  at the Par 72 5,881 yard Carolina Country Club. The event is hosted by Converse College.

Junior Anne Parlmer led the Crusaders with a 12-over-par 84, which puts her in a tie for 32nd place. Katie Gribbon is one stroke back in 38th with an 85, followed by Haley Helton at 89. Sarah King recorded a 92, while Jamie Treece carded a 95.

Elizabeth Swallow from King University is on top of the individual leaderboard on day one with a one-over-par 73. She has a two stroke lead over Braiden Fertick from Anderson.

King sits atop the team leaderboard at 317, and holds a two shot lead over Anderson, while Queens is three strokes back in third.

The final round of the 36-hole event will take place on Tuesday with an 11 am shotgun.
