Men's Cross Country Tabbed Eighth in Preseason Poll

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Belmont Abbey has been ranked eighth by league coaches in the 2018 Conference Carolinas Men's Cross Country preseason poll, the league office announced today. Six-time defending champion Mount Olive was voted to repeat this year, gaining a total of 80 points and eight first-place votes.

The Crusaders, who finished sixth at last year's cross country championship, received 35 points. They will be led by juniors Thomas Eichorn and Rory Witkowski and sophomore Daniel Grosch.

Lees-McRae College is ranked second with 72 points, while North Greenville was third with 63 points. League newcomer Emmanuel picked up the final first-place vote and 50 points to rank fourth, just a few points ahead of three teams -- King (49), Barton (46) and Limestone (45). Southern Wesleyan followed The Abbey in ninth with 28 points.
