Lester Leads Men's Cross Country At Bulldog Stampede

The Belmont Abbey Men's Cross Country squad raced to an 18th-place finish out of 19 teams in today's 8,000 meter Bulldog Stampede hosted by Wingate University. This site of the Bulldog Stampede will also serve as the home course of the NCAA Southeast Regional on November 7.

Crusader sophomore Patrick Lester began with a 5:30 opening mile, and after completing his second mile in 11:13, passed ten runners before he crossed the finish line in 28:09.

Freshman Connor Buhrmeister was not far behind.  He passed the two-mile mark in 11:11 and finished the race in 28:57.

Thomas Eichorn finished next for the Crusaders with a time of 29:52, just two spots ahead of senior teammate David Iverson, who completed the race in 29:58.  Iverson in turn finished two spots in front of freshman teammate Nicholas Snell, who recorded a 30:12 pace.

Mackenzie Makela (32:35) and Ryan Caulley (34:30) rounded out the field.

Belmont Abbey races again Saturday, October 10 at the Royals Challenge.
