The Belmont Abbey men's volleyball team finished its second year of play with a 3-0 loss this evening to Conference Carolinas leading Erskine. The Flying Fleet won by scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-19 as they improve to 17-6 overall and 10-2 in Conference Carolinas. Belmont Abbey, just in its second year of play, finishes the 2014 season with a ledger of 3-25 overall and 1-13 in Conference Carolinas.
Belmont Abbey hit .267 for the match as Dane Hunsicker led the way with nine kills on 16 attacks with just two errors (.438). He was the only Crusader to record more than three kills while posting a team-high six digs. Derek Sullivan handed out 18 assists.
The Crusaders enjoyed a solid match at the net, posting nine total blocks, six of which came in the second set, as Spencer Fournell led the way with three solo and two assisted. Dustin Buell added three assisted and one solo while Hunsicker and Justin Snyder both recorded two assisted blocks.
Belmont Abbey has no seniors departing from the roster as the third season in program history will begin in January, 2015.
