Three Crusaders Qualify for League Championship

ELON, N.C. -- Dominic Pautler posted two Conference Carolinas Championship qualifying standards and Michael Koceja and Justin Haggerty added two others, highlighting Belmont Abbey's effort at the Phoenix Invitational 2018.

Pautler earned a spot in the league meet in the pole vault as he cleared 3.82m, then covered a distance of 6.40m. in the long jump. Koceja placed fourth in the 400m, winning his heat with a time of 50.12. The time was his season-best and earned his spot at the Conference Carolinas Championship. Haggerty led three Crusaders in the top 10 of the 3000m Steeplechase, finishing fourth in a qualifying standard time of 10:49.22. Edward Genao was 8th (12:10.79), just ahead Darvy Soignet (9th/12:42.20).

Belmont Abbey's 4x100 relay team of Koceja, Alex Beckley, Alex Abalos and Matthew Difrancesco was third, while Koceja, Difrancesco and Abelos partnered with Tomas Cerdeiras to place fourth in the 4x400 relay.

The Crusaders compete next weekend at the Gamecock Invitational.
