Ginski Takes Second In Discus As Men's Track & Field Finishes Seventh At Conference Carolinas Championships

The Belmont Abbey men's track and field team finished seventh at the two day Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships, held on the campus of Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina.

Belmont Abbey finished with 26 points, recording 21 of those today as the Crusaders began the day with five points, courtesy of Joe Thierfelder's fourth place finish in the high jump on Friday.

Today, the Abbey scored 21 points as Ignatius Ginski led the charge with an impressive second place finish in the discus with a toss of 42.22 meters. His efforts gave the Crusaders eight points.

The 4x100 relay team of Darius Gardner, Steph-Yves Louis, Michael Koceja and Thierfielder finished fifth for four points.

The 4x400 team raced to sixth as the team of Koceja, Gardner, Louis and Thierfelder finished 3:24.45 to add three points.

Koceja later ran to a fifth place effort in the 400 hurdles with a mark of 56.36 for four points.

Freshman Jonah Wiliamowski turned in a seventh place finish in the 1500 meters, crossing the line in 4:15.68 for two points.
