Freshmen Shine in Shutout at Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, SC - The Belmont Abbey men's tennis squad earned a 9-0 shutout over Brevard this morning to begin its tournament in Hilton Head.  The win puts the Abbey at 8-6 on the year, while the Tornados dipped to 4-10.

Freshman Jacob Andress had an impressive singles performance, winning 6-0, 6-1 at the #4 spot.  Freshman Carlos Nolasco was also very strong, winning his #3 singles match 6-2, 6-1.  The only singles match to go to a tiebreaker was the #5 spot, which freshman Darian Diaz won 0-6, 6-4, 10-6.

Doubles play was highlighted by Juan Baez and James Delaney winning 8-2 at the #1 spot.
