15 Belmont Abbey players scored goals as the 15th-ranked Crusaders men's lacrosse team improved to 6-1 with an easy 20-6 victory over Alderson-Broaddus this afternoon at Alumni Field. Belmont Abbey improves to 6-1, while the Battlers fall to 0-3.
The Crusaders never trailed as they stormed ahead 7-1 after one period and built a 13-3 halftime lead. The third period saw the Abbey outscore the Battlers 5-1 and both teams netted two goals in the final 15 minutes.
Connor Sellars and Jason Hollister each scored three goals with Callum Tanner adding two. 12 others-Joey McGinley, Brendan McGovern, Billy Huss, Will Chastain, Eric Berbrick, Nick Lasalla, Zack Bernhard, Devin Cruz, MJ Miller, Hunter Jones, Kyle Fitzsimmons and Billy Moore-all had one goal.
McGinley and Riley Quinlan both handed out four assists with Hollister adding two.
Belmont Abbey outshot the Battlers 45-20 and won 17 of 29 face offs. Huss won 12 of 16 and tied for the team high with four ground balls, joining Lasalla and Cody Agrella.
Belmont Abbey is back in action Saturday when hosting #11 Mount Olive at 3:00 p.m.
