SNOW HILL, N.C. -- Nick Stafford shot a one-over 73 Tuesday to tie for sixth place overall at the 2017 Conference Carolinas Men's Golf Championship, held at the Cutter Creek Golf Club. The junior from Belmont added the score to his 74 on Sunday for a two-day total of 147, seven strokes off the lead. The Crusaders finished in a tie for third overall posting a 36-hole score of 598 (305-293).
Monday's second round was suspended by weather, then move overnight storms forced a delay on Tuesday, cutting the event from 54 to 36 holes.
Levi Kettelhut tied for 11th at 149 (73-76), while Michael Mead was one stroke back in a tie for 19th (78-72=150). John Molyneaux trimmed 10 strokes off his opening-round total (82-72=154) to tie for 29th, while Jacob Scruggs rounded out the scoring at 157 (80-77/t36).
Limestone captured both the team and individual titles.
Belmont Abbey, ranked 10th in the region in the latest poll, now awaits a possible team bid to the NCAA Regionals. Stafford is virtually assured of an individual slot after winning four tournaments during the year and capturing Conference Carolinas Player of the Year honors.
