GOLDSBORO, N.C. -- Junior Nick Stafford fired a 69 Tuesday to earn medalist honors at the The Trojan, hosted by the University of Mount Olive at the Walnut Creek Country Club. The Belmont native finished at four-under 212 (76-67-69) helping the Crusader "A" team to a tie for fourth in the overall standings at 895 (302-294-299).
Jacob Scruggs tied for 15th at 224 (75-72-77), while Levi Kettelhut tied for 25th (71-81-77/229). Maurizio DeBono finished in a tie for 43rd at 234 (80-78-76), while John Molyneaux rounded out the scoring with a 237 (82-77-78/48th).
Belmont Abbey also entered a "B" team which finished ninth at 933 (315-308-310). Michael Mead tied for 18th in the field at 225 (73-75-77), while Chris Kopack tied for 35th (81-79-72/232). Austin Gliha was one stroke back tied for 38th at 233 (78-78-77) with Colin Reno tied for 55th (83-76-84/243). Brody Davis was tied for 64th at 256 (83-84-89).
Three other players competed in the tournament as individuals. Landon Isaacs (81-85-80) and Philip Telsrow (81-81-84) were in a group tied for 58th at 246. Olivier Arsenault finished 68th with a score 271 (92-96-83).
The tournament concluded the regular season for the Crusaders. They next compete at the Conference Carolinas Championship April 23-25.
