Men's Golf Finishes 2nd at the 2016 Conference Carolinas Golf Championship Tournament

GREENSBORO, NC – The Crusaders started the tournament ranked 5th in Conference Carolinas play and by the end, they would finish 2nd while shooting a total of 885. The team would finish behind Limestone College who shot an 858 on the weekend and above Mount Olive who shot 886. Nick Stafford would end the tournament tied for first with John Thatch of the University of Mount Olive.

"For the men being picked 5th was definitely motivation. We knew the talent we had on the team was there. All year was about getting the correct combination each week. Nick Stafford, Tyler Satorius, and Cameron Buist had played Bryan Park in previous events. John Molyneaux has been consistent all year and Maurizio DeBono has been making strides all spring. The team really played well under the pressure of the Conference Tournament." Said Head Coach, Jason Gault

Stafford was trailing after round 2 by four from Griffin Brown of Limestone College. Brown would struggle on round 3 while Stafford was able to maintain consistency throughout the tournament.

John Molyneaux would have an outstanding round 3 play as he finished the day with par (72) allowing him to tie for 19th.

Seniors, Cameron Buist and Tyler Satorius would end their collegiate careers with scores of 228 and 230. During the Sunday evening banquet the two were recognized by the conference for their tremendous time and experience at the Abbey and playing in the conference. The two will be sorely missed by the program and the school as a whole.

Maurizio Debono would assist the team on rounds 1 and 3 as he shot scores of 73 and 74. Both scores would give the Abbey their one stroke advantage over Mount Olive.

The regional committee will meet on Thursday afternoon to decide individual regional competitors.
