Men's Golf Finishes 13th Among Strong Field At Cougar Invitational

The Belmont Abbey men's golf team closed with a final round 296 to finish 13th out of 16 teams in a loaded field at the 2015 Cougar Invitational presented by Aflac. The 54 hole event was hosted by Columbus State at the par 71 Columbus Country Club.

The field, one of the strongest in the fall nationally, featured eight teams ranked in the top 25, including three in the top 15.

Belmont Abbey began the day in 13th after rounds of 299 and 294 after 36 holes Monday. Today, the Crusaders fired a 296 to finish with an aggregate of 889.

Sophomore Nick Stafford led the Crusaders with a final round 71, which came after scores of 74 and 72 yesterday.

Connor Rinoski and Michael Mead both finished tied for 36th. Rinoski closed with a three over 74 after opening with rounds of 71 and 76. Mead opened with a 76 but rallied with a three under 68 in yesterday's afternoon round. Today he fired a 77.

Tyler Satorius and John Molyneaux both finished tied for 80th. Satorius opened with scores of 80 and 79 but closed with a strong 74, his lowest round of the fall. Molyneaux carded back-to-back rounds of 78 yesterday and was one shot better today with a 77.

Belmont Abbey is back on the links October 5-6 at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational.
