The Belmont Abbey men's golf team finished tied for ninth at the 54 hole Argonaut Invitational, which was hosted by West Florida at the Tiger Point Golf Club in Gulf Breeze, Florida.
The two day, 54 hole event began yesterday with 36 holes. Belmont Abbey played the morning round with a score of 307, carded a 312 in the afternoon round and closed with a 295 this afternoon to finish with a score of 914. That total was even with Northeastern State as the Crusaders earned a top ten finish.
Freshman Nick Stafford finished tied for 17th as he rallied with an even par 72 after carding rounds of 73 and 79. Cameron Buist and Tyler Satorius both finished tied for 38th. Buist closed with a strong one over 73 to rally back from rounds of 78 and 79 yesterday. Satorius fired rounds of 76, 77 and 77.
Michael Mead also posted a strong final round, carding a 73 after marking scores of 81 and 77 yesterday. He was tied for 44th.
Justin Curis opened with an 80, carded an 83 in yesterday's afternoon round and closed with a 79 to finish tied for 63rd.
The Crusaders will now take the first half of April off as it gears up for the Conference Carolinas Championships. Belmont Abbey will serve as the host institution for the tournament, a 54 hole event staged at Bryan Park, Championship course, in Greensboro, North Carolina April 19-21.
