Men's Golf Alone In Third After 36 Holes At Bearcat Invitational

The Belmont Abbey men's golf team posted rounds of 285 and 280 to sit in third place after 36 holes of strong field at the Bearcat Invitational, hosted by Lander University at the Greenwood Country Club.

Belmont Abbey's 36 hole total of 570 trails only eighth-ranked Flagler (555) and #33 Georgia College (565). Belmont Abbey enters tomorrow's final round ahead of six nationally ranked programs, including four presently ranked in the top 20.

Freshman Michael Mead is tied for third with rounds of 69 and 70 to sit at five under par. He begins tomorrow's final round just four shots off the pace. Classmate Nick Stafford is tied for 17th with rounds of 75 and 67 (-2). Tyler Satorius, fresh off of medalist honors at last week's Barton Invitational, is tied for 20th with scores of 72 and 71 (-1).

Cameron Buist is tied for 43rd with scores of 72 and 74 and Justin Curis posted rounds of 79 and 75 to sit in a tie for 77th.

Belmont Abbey leads fourth place Columbus State by one shot and fifth place Mount Olive by five. The final round on Tuesday begins at 8:00 a.m.
