On the final day of fall competition, the Belmont Abbey men's golf team fired a 297 to finish eighth out of 21 teams at the Rock Barn Intercollegiate, which fielded arguably the strongest competition of the year outside of the NCAA Tournament.
The Rock Barn course will host the NCAA National Championships in May and as such attracted a national field, which includes several teams presently ranked in the top ten.
Belmont Abbey defeated three teams ranked in the GolfStat Top 25 as it began the day in 17th after a 313.
Today, junior Cameron Buist carded a two under 70 as he finished alone in sixth. He shaved seven strokes off of yesterday's score.
Today's round marked the final day of allowable competition under NCAA rules. The Crusaders will be back in action in February at Kiawah Island.
