Men's Golf Alone In 17th After Opening Round Of Solid Field At Rock Barn Intercollegiate

Playing in perhaps the strongest field outside of the NCAA National Championship tournament, the Belmont Abbey men's golf team opened with a 313 to sit alone in 17th out of 21 teams at the Rock Barn Intercollegiate, hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne at the Rock Barn Spa and Country Club in Conover, North Carolina.

The Rock Barn course will host the NCAA National Championships in May and as such has attracted a national field, which includes several teams presently ranked in the top ten.

Tomorrow's final round, which is the final day of allowable fall competition under NCAA Rules, begins at 8:00 a.m.

Junior Cameron Buist and freshman Michael Mead both carded rounds of 77 as they are tied for 33rd. Freshman Nick Stafford is one shot back as he is tied for 51st.

Tyler Satorius and James Jaworski posted rounds of 81 and 83, respectively, as they are tied for 76th and 86th.
