GAFFNEY, S.C. -- Deion Lane posted his third straight double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds and two other Crusaders reached double figures but it was not enough as Limestone earned a 79 victory over Belmont Abbey Monday night.
Belmont Abbey got off to a solid start, leading 13-12 in the first six-plus minutes, but the Saints (8-9, 4-4) tallied 13 straight points and never trailed again. The Crusaders scored the next six points to cut the margin to six, 25-19 at the 6:03 mark, but Limestone finished the period with a 12-2 surge to lead 37-21 at the break.
Despite holding Limestone to just 42.6 percent shooting, the Crusaders connected on a season-low 34.2 percent from the field.
Belmont Abbey continues its three-game road swing at Conference Carolinas leader Mount Olive on Thursday.
