Barrow Scores as Field Hockey Wraps Up Road Trip

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Demetria Barrow found the net late in the contest, cutting a two-goal deficit in half, but Belmont Abbey could not muster the equalizer in a 3-1 field hockey loss at Bellarmine Saturday. The result wrapped up a stretch of three games in three days for the Crusaders.

Anna Fleetwood made 14 saves in goal for Belmont Abbey, including six in the first half, but the Knights opened a 2-0 lead in the opening period with goals just 47 seconds apart.

Barrow tallied her fifth goal of the season on a pass from Xanthe Rademeyer with 11:37 left to make the score 2-1, but Bellarmine countered extreme pressure from the Crusaders to make the final 3-1. Barrow finished with a pair of shots while Allison McAuley added another.
Belmont Abbey returns home from the trip with its first road win in hand, preparing for a visit by Limestone to Alumni Field on Friday.
