BELMONT, N.C. – Ben Gobbel drove in two runs with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Belmont Abbey baseball team the lead and the 4-3 win Friday night against King. The Conference Carolinas win improves the Crusaders record to 17-19 on the year and 8-9 in the league. King drops to 10-17 on the season and 5-9 in conference play.
Ben Gobbel had three hits on the night including the tying and go-ahead single in the eighth.
Kale Rhame collected two hits and an RBI.
Ben Sneider also had two hits in the contest.
Griffin Baker started for The Abbey tossing 6.0 innings with 11 strikeouts.
Parker MacPhail earned his third win of the year with this three innings of relief and five strikeouts.
The Crusaders finish the series against King with a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 1 pm.
