DUE WEST, S.C. – The Belmont Abbey baseball team put up 14 runs in game two as they split a doubleheader with Erskine Monday afternoon. Derrick Dabney crushed a grand slam and four other Crusaders drove in two runs apiece to lead The Abbey in the game two win.
Erskine 5, Belmont Abbey 4 (8 innings)
Mason Dodd drove in two runs with a double to tie the game in the seventh inning.
Griffin Baker started on the hill for The Abbey, tossing 5.1 innings and racking up seven strikeouts.
Belmont Abbey 14, Erskine 7
The Crusaders collected 11 hits in the contest led by Jakob Rolly, White, and Gobbel.
The Crusaders capitalized with a nine-run seventh inning.
Dabney came through with a pinch-hit grand slam in the seventh.
Abbey starter Sam High struck out nine batters in his 5.2 innings of work.
Sam Luchansky was credited with the win, throwing 3.1 innings while striking out eight.
The Crusaders will host Lenoir-Rhyne tomorrow at 5 PM.
