Jaime Malilong joined the Belmont Abbey coaching staff in 2012 as an assistant coach and was promoted to the position of Associate Head Coach in August.
Malilong serves as the recruiting coordinator and works with the North Carolina ODP program. During his tenure with the Crusaders, the program has played in five straight conference championship games, earned five straight United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) Team academic awards and three straight Team Ethics and Sportsmanship awards. The Abbey won a pair of conference tournament championships and a regular season title during that span, earning three NCAA tournament berths. Under Malilong's support and leadership, the program has a record of 71-21-9 and has not lost at home since Sept 20, 2014.
Prior to his stint in North Carolina, Malilong coached the Blitz United Soccer Club in his native Oklahoma. During his 10 years at Blitz, Malilong won a pair of Sooner State Championships and led multiple teams into the Oklahoma Premier League.
After relocating to the Carolinas, Malilong served at the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy in Greenville, S.C., then accepted a position as the Academy Director for Gaston United Soccer Club in Gastonia.
Malilong has experience as a semi-professional soccer player, playing for the Tulsa Roughnecks for several years in the indoor leagues in the Mid-South region. He also spent a year as the assistant coach for the Tulsa Spirit, the local women’s semi-professional soccer franchise.
