Dustin Stewart enters his second season at Belmont Abbey College as an Assistant Coach for the Track & Field and Cross Country programs. His duties for coaching include the sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws, relays, and multi’s events.
During his first year with the Crusaders, Coach Stewart lead the sprints, hurdles, jumps, and throws events to their most successful season in program history. His athletes set 22 school records between the indoor and outdoor season. Coach Stewart trained 4 athletes to 6 All conference performances along with 2 of which who were Conference Champions with Liz Thierfelder in the indoor and outdoor women’s 400, and Mike Koceja in the Men’s 400 hurdles. The highlight of the season was when Liz Thierfelder set a Conference Carolina’s Conference Championship record in the Indoor Women’s 400 with a time of 58.55.
Prior to his time with Belmont Abbey, Coach Stewart served as a Graduate Assistant Track & Field coach for Pfeiffer University during Pfeiffer’s inaugural Track & Field season. He served as the sprints, hurdles, and relays coach and was able to train one female athlete to All Conference honors in the 60m hurdles and 100m hurdles.
Coach Stewart was part of the first recruiting class of Belmont Abbey Track & Field in 2010. During his time competing as a Crusader he held 16 school records, was a 9x All Conference Athlete, and a 2x Conference Champion. Coach Stewart cracked the top 50 in the nation in the 1500 event his junior year. He was also voted by his peers for team awards including Most Improved, Most Valuable Athlete, and the Leadership Award
Stewart earned of Bachelor of Arts degree in Sport Management from Belmont Abbey College in 2014.
