Men's Outdoor Track & Field Makes Two Top-10 Finishes at Gamecock Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Belmont Abbey men's Outdoor Track & Field team competed in today's Gamecock Invitational, hosted by the University of South Carolina.

Junior Michael Koceja made a seventh-place finish in the 400M hurdles, which he completed in 55.51 seconds.  Matthew Difrancesco also was a solid sprinter, as he ran the 200M in 22.2 seconds, good enough for 14th place out of 42 runners.  Sophomore Alex Abalos completed the 400M Dash in 49.55 seconds, which got him 16th place out of 36 runners.

The highlight of the day was freshman Julian Smallwood, who came in second place in the shot put, with a 16.24 meter throw.  He placed ahead of multiple Division I competitors in the event.

The Crusaders will compete in the Conference Carolinas Championships next weekend, which will be hosted by Southern Wesleyan University in Central, SC.
