Men's Track and Field Close the Season at the Conference Carolinas Championship

BANNER ELK, NC – The Belmont Abbey men's track and field program competed in its final day of competition today at the Conference Carolinas Championship Finals. The crusaders would finish the day in 7th place with 27.5 points while Mount Olive finished in 1st with a score of 211.

Freshman Warren Jones competed in the 110m hurdles and finished 6th overall with a time of 16.21. While Michael Koceja would earn a 1st place finish in the 400m hurdles as he shaved three seconds off of his seasons best with a time of 54.14.

In the 3000m steeplechase the crusaders would have three compete Zachary Melvin, Thomas Eichorn, and David Iverson. Their times would be 10:59.74, 11:33.50, and 11:45.38.

The 4x100m relay team would finish in 5th with a time of 42.31 as Tarik Amon would start as the first leg followed by Koceja, Alex Abalos, and finally Matthew Difrancesco.

The 4x400m relay team would finish 4th overall with a time of 3:20.74 as Koceja lead in as the first leg followed by Abalos, Connor Buhrmeister, and Joe Thierfelder.

Darius Gardner and Peter Heron would be the lone duo competing in the long jump and earned distances of 5.58m and 5.61m.
