Fourteen men competed for Belmont Abbey in today's Appalachian State Indoor Open in Boone, NC.

Freshman Matthew Difrancesco was one of only eight runners in the meet who qualified for the 55 Meter Dash, and he recorded a 6.71 dash.

Freshman Alex Abalos posted a time of 50.89 seconds in the 400 Meter Dash, good enough for third place out of 15.  Sophomore teammate Michael Koceja ran the event in 51.15, earning him a fifth-place finish.  Senior Joe Thierfelder also had a top-ten finish with a 52.26 dash.

The Abbey also had some impressive runs from its distance runners.  Freshman Thomas Eichorn's 4:49 mile led the Crusaders in that event.

In the 800 Meter Run, Freshman Connor Buhrmeister led all Abbey Runners with a 2:09 race.

Thierfelder also represented the Abbey in the field events area, as he had a 1.78m High Jump.

Belmont Abbey's next meet will take place in Winston Salem's JDL Fasttrack at the Conference Carolinas Indoor Championship.
