Tanner Stancil is in his third season as assistant tennis coach at Belmont Abbey and has made a tremendous impact. He was recognized in 2017 as the ITA Southeast Assistant Tennis Coach of the Year for that season.
Stancil came to Belmont Abbey in 2015 after spending one year as the head coach at Montreat College. Before that, he served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Tennessee Wesleyan College, for two years. He also coach at Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga, Tenn., where he helped lead the Fighting Irish boy’s doubles team to a state championship and the girls’ team to a state final.
Stancil played collegiately at Tennessee Wesleyan from 2008-12, where he played every spot in the lineup throughout his career. He helped the Bulldogs to a national tournament appearance in 2009-10 and an Appalachian Athletic Conference title in 2011-12.
