Balde's First Career Goal In 76th Minute Lifts Men's Soccer To 1-0 Away Victory At Emmanuel

Belmont Abbey freshman left back Mohamed Balde scored his first career goal in the 76th minute to lift the Crusaders men's soccer team to a 1-0 away victory at Emmanuel this evening. The win evens the Abbey's Conference Carolinas mark at 1-1 while improving to 2-3-2 overall. Emmanuel falls to 2-3-2 overall and 1-2-0 in league play.

Playing not far from his hometown of Norcross, Georgia, Balde provided the only goal of the match at the 75:21 mark as he smacked home a saved Crusader shot by finishing in the upper corner for his first career goal in his third career game.

Goalkeeper Luke Whelan, who entered the game at the start of the second half, made the lead stand up as he stopped a Lions scoring chance late. Alexander Trujillo made three saves in the first half.

Belmont Abbey outshot Emmanuel 9-7 and held a 9-6 edge in corner kicks.
