Women's Soccer Earns Top Billing In Preseason Coaches Poll

The Belmont Abbey College women's soccer team has been picked as the preseason favorite by Conference Carolinas league head coaches for the upcoming season.  The Abbey returns 15 players from last season’s unit that went 14-6 overall with a 9-2 league mark and captured the Conference Carolinas title.  That team advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2001 season adding to their fourth overall NCAA appearance. The Abbey has won six conference tournament championships and appeared in the Conference Tournament final in each of the last five seasons, winning in 2005, 2006 and 2009. ... (more)

Women's Soccer Names Captains For 2010 Season

The Belmont Abbey Women’s Soccer team has named three young ladies to captain the Crusaders this fall. Those three include Senior Anna Donaldson, Junior Rebecca Mateo, and Sophomore Alana Ryczek. All have exhibited leadership trait during their time at The Abbey, both on and off the field, that make them excellent choices to lead this year’s squad.... (more)

Three Women's Soccer Players Earn Post-Season Honors

Belmont Abbey sophomore forward Connie Axiotis senior defender Amanda Maddock and senior forward Celene Molera were recognized with postseason honors by a multitude of organizations. Axiotis earned first-team all-region honors by Daktronics and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, as well as first-team all-state honors by the North Carolina Sports Information Directors Association. Maddock was named second-team all-region by Daktronics and by the NSCAA, and Molera picked up third-team all-region honors by the NSCAA.... (more)
