Mission: The mission of the Belmont Abbey College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to provide spirit and unity among the students, athletes and administration and to promote a positive self image in the community.

BYLAWS:
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Belmont Abbey College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is to allow the student- athletes to express ideas, concerns and opinions relating to College issues that directly affect them; to explain and discuss NCAA and Conference Carolinas legislation in order for the student-athletes to have a clear understanding of these procedures and to maintain an environment where teams support teams and promote Belmont Abbey College Athletics.
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) of Belmont Abbey College will serve the purpose as follows:
1. To promote and enhance communication between Belmont Abbey College Athletic Department and the student athletes.
2. To embellish the quality of student-athlete life at BAC through implementing programs that encourages academic success, health, and community awareness.
3. To encourage student-athlete participation in various programs and events developed within the athletic department, and facilitate further involvement in the BAC community, outside community, and NCAA.
MEMBERSHIP: The committee is comprised of one representative and one alternate student athlete per each individual sport. His or her team members or coach must nominate each representative and alternate. Each member will serve in his or her role for a one-year term. (Elections are to be held within each varsity team prior to the last SAAC meeting of the school year. Coaches are responsible to either choose the representative, or conduct an election form which each varsity team will nominate two representatives. These two representatives are to be present at the last SAAC meeting of the year in order to meet their fellow committee members and to become acquainted with their individual duties.)
Executive Committee: At the initial meeting, the SAAC will elect officers for the upcoming academic year. In order to hold an executive position, a majority vote must be reached. The officers and their roles are stated below:
PRESIDENT: chairs all Committee meetings and acts as the official representative of the committee.
VICE-PRESIDENT: assist President in all duties.
SECRETARY: records the minutes of all meetings and forwards them to each Committee member within one week of the meeting.
TREASURER: keeps up to date money records of fundraisers….etc
SGA REPRESENTATIVE- a member of our committee who attends SGA meeting to keep up with school and changes.
PUBLIC RELATIONS- and individual who speaks, promotes, organizes events.
ATTENDANCE: It is mandatory that a representative or alternate attend meetings when scheduled (every 2 weeks). If representative or alternate cannot attend meeting due to competition advisor should be notified prior to meeting.)
RESPONSIBLITES:
The responsibilities of this group are outlined below:
A. Discuss all relevant matters discussed in meetings with coaches and teams.
B. Discuss and recommend positions of College issues that affect student-athletes.
C. Explain and discuss proposed and passed NCAA legislation.
D. Review and discuss the Conference Carolinas regulations.
E. Participate in activities with official charities. (i.e. Make A Wish, Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity…etc.)
F. Participate in activities sponsored by the SAAC.
G. Assist the athletic administration, coaches and student-athletes in promoting excellence in the Conference Carolinas through the promotion of sportsmanship.
H. Participate in fundraising activities for the SAAC.
** Note: Each athletic department sport will have one vote in all Committee matters. Bylaws may be amended with a majority vote by SAAC Committee members.
